Pink Floyd's biggest fan in India

Baba, Sadhu or Shanyashi, when we hear these words the first thing that comes to our mind, of a person who wears saffron, who grows a long beard, who has deadlocks (Jata in Sanskrit), who doesn't ask much from life. In simple words who leads a very normal yet extraordinary life.


This article is about such a Baba. Though this Baba has a long hair and beard and lives a simple life and roam in streets of Guwahati, his story is quite unique and at the same time, it will wet your eyes if you follow his entire story.

Baba's unique taste

Baba who identified himself as Prakhanta Kumar Borah has a unique taste in music because he likes listening to western music. In fact, he is well versed in various western songs, especially from the bands like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Elton John etc. Apart from keeping interest in western music, he was also fond of reading American journals during his early times and frequently goes to the library.



But how did he lend up on the streets?

This Baba who was born in Guwahati and from his childhood itself Baba was a bright student. He joined Saint Mary's School, later got himself into Don Bosco and even completed his graduation from prestigious Pargjyotish College. 

During his early 80's he was part of a rock band, as a vocalist. Baba used to sings songs from the bands like The Beatles, Pink Floyd etc. And "Another Brick On the wall " is his favourite.

He also worked in the Water Resource Department but he left it, as he found it too materialistic. As the days passed, life became harder. And with every passing day life of Baba became even more grime and finally he was forced to live on the streets of Guwahati.

But recently Baba's life has received some light. As he is the only English speaking Baba on that street, people started noticing about it and with the power of the Internet and social media he gained some popularity and as a result media channels like NEWS LIVE started pouring in. 


For the time being Baba is busy with all the attraction he is getting. Hopefully, he will live the rest of his life peacefully and gets more recognition as every single person lives matters.
